What Is a Suction Feed Spray Gun?
A suction-feed spray gun draws fluid from a bottom-mounted cup using the low-pressure zone created by air flowing through the gun body — the same venturi principle used in carburettors and laboratory aspirators. Because the fluid path runs upward against gravity, suction-feed guns typically operate at slightly higher inlet pressures than gravity-feed designs, making them better suited to lower-viscosity materials and high-volume continuous spraying where large cup capacity is advantageous.
Suction-feed guns remain the preferred choice in production environments where a 1-litre or 1.5-litre cup avoids the need for frequent refills — industrial painting lines, large-area primer application, and agricultural equipment coating are common examples. LIS has manufactured suction-feed guns for export markets since the 1980s, and the range covers standard cup sizes from 500 ml to 1.5 litres with interchangeable nozzle sets.
